Redemption Hill Church started with a handful of passionate people sent by Cornerstone EFC in Annandale, VA in August 2011. Just blocks from the US Capitol building, RHC is committed to gathering and scattering. It gathers on Sunday and scatters as gospel influence the rest of the week throughout the DC metro area. Community groups work together to find and seize opportunities to make a difference and to make disciples of Jesus. As the church scattered, they influence their neighborhoods and communities for the sake of the Gospel. Both churches are deeply committed to ministering in the communities God has placed them.
Washington DC is extremely transient, young and one of the most diverse cities in the US. Political, cultural and social differences bring challenges but also affords incredible ministry opportunities where the gospel can transcend those differences in a beautiful display of Gods heart for all people.
You will be serving alongside members of RHC as they serve with ministry partners like the DC Dream Center and Capitol Area Food Bank. You’ll learn from followers of Jesus who work in the political arena on Capitol Hill and from organizations like the International Justice Mission. You will serve in practical ways with Gods people who are answering his call to meet the needs of the city.
You’ll not only experience the rich history and beauty of this city, you’ll see what God is doing in and through his people. Church leaders, ministry partners, a retired Capitol Hill Police officer and Capitol Hill Interns serve as our guides as we explore issues of race, poverty, homelessness and justice.
Transportation- Transportation is required during the week to get to various ministry opportunities. Because of the challenges of city traffic and parking, 15 passenger vans are the largest size vehicle that can be accommodated.
