Washington DC, USA
This 7 week Apex experience will expose you to the diversity of our Nation's capitol. Your home away from home will involve living with families in the Capitol Hill area and leading groups who stay in Annandale, VA. The heartbeat behind these churches is to be in the city, for the city.
These sister churches, Redemption Hill and Cornerstone EFC, will be home base for the summer. Together these churches are committed to gospel influence in DC and the metro area. These weeks will be filled with opportunities to serve alongside local community and church leaders which will include working with partners like the DC Dream Center and Capitol Area Food Bank. You’ll learn from followers of Jesus who work in the political arena on Capitol Hill and from organizations like the International Justice Mission. You will serve in practical ways with Gods people who are answering his call to meet the needs of the city.
Apex is committed to your growth as a disciple: It is of great value that we see Apex summer team members grow in their ability to speak and apply the gospel to all of life. The city provides a perfect training ground to learn from many different people (culture, ethnicity, economic, political, religious) and the opportunity to show impartial justice to those who are affected by these seemingly dividing lines. It is only when we cross over these barriers and enter into missional relationships that are centered on the gospel that we can begin to see Christ transform lives of ALL people.
Apex desires to help you lead others and make disciples: As an Apex summer team member, you will be trained by Apex staff and local pastors on specific focus topics for the city and group. We desire to see you grow in your God given gifts and leadership abilities. We are committed to helping you be equipped for the good work that God has prepared for you to do. (Ephesians 2:10) A unique opportunity to this Apex experience will involve leading and serving middle school and high school students on week long Apex trips. You will have the opportunity to build relationships with these younger students and help them take next steps in their own faith journey.
Come minister in the city of DC for the city of DC. Our hope is that this urban experience will expose you to diverse approaches to ministry and will introduce you to church and local leaders who are transforming their communities with the gospel in fresh ways.
