Destination Overview

About Crisis Response

ReachGlobal Crisis Response exists to develop, empower, and release the Body of Christ to share His love in times of crisis. They partner with a local church in the impacted area which provides connection points between local believers and those they are serving. They commit to the long-term recovery because it opens opportunities for spiritual conversations as people ask, “Why are you still here long after the news cameras have left?” Their desire in the wake of a crisis is to both proclaim and portray the love of Christ by coming alongside the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those suffering. By serving with Crisis Response, participants also will learn how to proclaim and portray the love of Christ in the context of crisis. To learn more, go to their website.

Morehead City

Morehead City is located in what is called the southern outer banks of North Carolina; it’s a beautiful beachy city with lots of wonderful sights. We have a team of 5 permanent staff here, Ryan and Paula (me) Kling, Dave and Connie Leese and Ellis Bosveld. Our city is beautiful, but it has very much a division in it, since it’s a beach town you have very beautiful and affluent houses next to the water, but we also have locals who are struggling to put roofs on their houses.

Meet Our Missionaries

Our team vision is to show the love of Christ to those in need.

Ryan K. - Site Coordinator - Ryan provides oversite and direction for our team, as well as working closely with our partner church.

Connie L. - Volunteer Coordinator - Connie oversees all things short term volunteers. This includes pre-field communication, meals, and keeping everyone on the same page.

Dave L. - Construction Coordinator - Dave is the construction guru. He lines up all of the projects, connects with homeowners, and makes sure all tools and materials are on site.

Ellis B. - Job-site Supervisor - Ellis works directly with our weeklong volunteers day in and day out, overseeing the nuts and bolts of a specific project.

Paula K. - Job-site Supervisor/Intern Coordinator - Paula works directly with our weeklong volunteers day in and day out overseeing the nuts and bolts of a specific project. She also welcomes, mentors and oversees our Apex interns.

How is this site strategic?

As a town in Eastern North Carolina, hurricanes are just a part of everyday life. That was until September 14th, 2018, when hurricane Florence made landfall, leaving behind a wake of destruction that was unparalleled by any hurricane anyone here could remember. Crisis such as natural disasters provide us with opportunities to share the gospel in tangible ways that people can see and feel easily. This allows us to build relationships and speak the truth of who Jesus is, and what He is done for us in a way that most people have never heard or experienced before.
