Ministering to families in their community is a high priority for this ministry. Located on the border of the Westchester/Olympia Heights communities of Miami in the 33165, zip code, a population of over 100,000 people within a 3-mile radius of the church. 80% of the homes in these communities speak Spanish as the primary language. In addition, obesity of the children in these communities exists in epidemic proportions.
Incoming teams will help lead summer camp ministry, getting to know the kids and families in these ethnically diverse and culturally rich communities.
Academic enrichment, bible study, worship and play are cornerstones to the ministry. Church and community leaders from various parts of the city will engage the teams on topics of evangelism, immigration, gospel community & biblical justice while our Apex Staff leads the daily training in personal evangelism. Not only are you learning about the community you are serving in the work God is doing in Miami. You will be going home with training and tools that will help you be gospel influence the rest of the year. Even though the days are full, we do create time for daily team devotional and debrief giving you time to connect with each other and to discuss what they are learning and how it translates to their context at home.
Transportation- Transportation is required during the week to get to various ministry opportunities. Because of the challenges of city traffic and parking, 15 passenger vans are the largest size vehicle that can be accommodated.
Lodging- Groups will be staying at True Vine Christian Church.
Capacity-The site can accommodate 70 participants.
Age Range- Apex trips are ideal for High School students but this city experience is well suited for both Middle School and High School groups or combination of both.
Training- This trip will require your team to plan ahead with pre-trip training materials provided by Apex.
